Changes

Personally, I dislike change. Greatly. And my goodness, how things can change fast!! Decisions are made, and instantly things are different than they were before. Its inevitable, unavoidable. Its uncomfortable and awkward. Some change leads to maturation and eventually a happier lifestyle. We more through stages of life and learn as we go. But other changes just plain stink. We may not understand why.. ever.
Change can be defined as making the form or content of something different from what it is or would be if left alone. So why can't we just leave everything alone? Things are fine just the way we are; everyone together with a relatively clear understanding of everyone else. It works.

Days off of school

About two times a month, we have a day off from school aside from big holiday breaks. These days usually fall on Mondays, which is fine by me. i find it interesting to observe the way students and/or teachers spend these valuable days. Many opt to seep in. While I do enjoy sleeping in, i can't sleep in too long or I feel like I have wasted a day. And that's not good! I need to feel like I had a productive day in order to sleep well at night.
SO.... Today I woke up at 9. I know that isn't sleeping in very long, but it is still a nice break from school mornings. Yet at the same time, I was able to work out with my best friend, eat a healthy breakfast, get in some devotion time and still be ready by eleven when I will be picked up to go shopping! What a good day. Thank God for Marting Luther King Jr. Good man.

Technology and you

Technology makes up a vast part of our culture today. Students are taught to use computers in schools, and cell phones seem to monopolize communication. I anticipate that a dependence on this technology could develop leading to problems with society, the government, and the economy.
People lose the personal touch of a letter or a verbal conversation when we spend our time emailing, texting, or calling on the phone. Social skills are lacking, especially among my generation, because we as a nation are so busy and always preoccupied. It seems so rare to carry a casual and compassionate conversation with a friend. We lost the sentimental value of friendship and relationships when we get caught up in technology or the “latest fads” of our day.
Organizations these days need what is considered the latest computers. Business offices need to stay up to date and are trying to keep up with competitors. As soon as a better or more efficient version of an appliance or device is invented, the old one becomes obsolete and the money spent is seen as a waste. This trend ties in to the economy as well. The customer will end up paying more as the technology changes to get the latest upgrades in the same way business owners do. Now consumers might be paying more for the same services.
While I realize that these issues are much bigger than I am, I do believe that everyone can do his or her part in making improvements. I am planning on attending a University in the fall and majoring in Communications. In that field I believe I can at least help with the social aspect of this and help our world not lose the sentimental factor of talking and listening to each other.

Stephen Lum's Wardrobe

There is a character at my school named Stephen who wears clothing. Not just any clothing, but American Eagle clothing. You have to understand that this boy, Stephen, is not your typical high school student. He is 6'8". Now readers, don't make any assumptions. Are you thinking, "Wow, that kid must be a huge jock. I bet he's a basketball and football all star!" If you are thinking that, you are violently wrong. While Stephen is one pretty cool cat, he does NOT play sports. In fact, he lacks any level of hand-eye coordination whatsoever. Stephen does participate in intramural activities in gym class such as dodge ball or floor hockey, but never seemed to succeed. Now to the point of the story, Stephen dresses himself well. On the first day back from Christmas break, he wore black pinstripe pants with a long sleeved shirt and a "life vest" on top. Some people made fun of it but I happened to think it was cute =) He oftentimes wears polos and uses good judgement in layering them. Stephen is also musically inclined. Althouhg some feel he has recently been replaced by Ryan, I still consider him an amazing pianist and superb vocalist. Stephen is a loyal friend and usually gives good advice on serious or lighthearted matters.
Im sure he is reading this... love ya bud haha.

Musical Practices

Musical Practices are in full swing. Today is Friday, so we have officially been practicing for a week. I am enjoying the process so far, but I hope I will still be saying that in a month and a half! There is not a tremendous amount of drama yet except for the casting. Some people were not happy with who got what, blah blah blah. But if that wasn't enough, some people were given Saturday night who others thought should have been scheduled to perform on Friday night. One of the unspoken rules of musical is that the "better" person (or if they are too close the older one gets it) is allowed to have Satuday night, the closing performance. Well this year a lot of leads went to underclassmen. And a senior lead guy is paired with a sophomore girl and a junior lead guy is paired with a junior girl based on the chemistry they have together. So how do you please everyone? You don't!! I think we all need to out on our big kid pants and just deal with it. We might not be thrilled, but seriously. At least you're in the show!

Santa brought me..

I forgot to mention what Santa gave me!! I got more senior pictures... (I had them taken and ordered, but I gave them out like candy so I ran out). I also received a Pea Coat from New York and Company, a new Mp3 Player, gift cards, clothes, scarfs, socks, and money. I was happy! This Christmas more than ever I was completely content with not getting as many gifts. I had fun with people and so the things didn't matter so much. I think I'm growing up! haha. That's all for now!

Christmas Break

We are just getting back from Christmas Break. I'm not happy to be back. My family was getting used to staying up past midnight together everynight and then sleeping in... Now that's done =(. Today we had a two-hour delay which was nice, but now we'll be even grouchier tomorrow when we have to leave our house at 745 again.
Christmas break was great. I got to see a lot of family and friends, even a cousin from Texas came up for her baby shower. I spent the holidays and the surrounding days eating mass amunts of food with relatives, and spent a few non-holiday evenings with friends at basketball games, bowling, sleepovers, hanging out around the house or (yet again) eating. Good times!
